Asleep with Daddy

Four days old.

First visit to Dr. Schwab

My boss, Dr. Ismail. He says Adeline is his fourth grandchild. He took very good care of us.

Mike started growing out his beard the day we found out I was pregnant. This is the final product. He has since shaved, but I don't have any pictures of that yet.

Five days old.

Sisters and their babies. Emmett and Adeline are six weeks apart.

It was really warm for November, so we took Adeline for her first walk and even got to use her new stroller.

Six days old.

This is my grandma Bernice Adeline. She turned 88 on the day that our little Adeline was born. I was so glad that Adeline came on her due date so that she and my grandma could share a birthday. My grandma is one special lady and our prayer is that our Adeline would grow up to be a godly woman just like her great-grandma.

My grandma makes these blankets for each of the babies in the family. This one was made especially for my first born and had been waiting in a plastic bag in my grandmas closet. On the day that I told my grandma I was pregnant, she gave this to me.

This was Adeline's first time at church. Here she is with my small group girls. They are excited for the newest member of our small group...but now we need a bigger car if we want to go out.

Grayden gave Adeline this pink outfit and her bear jacket. Thanks Gray for keeping our girl warm and looking good.

One week old.

First trip to Gramma and Poppa's house.

Asleep in her co-sleeper bed in her big crib. I think she is just too small to sleep in that big crib all by herself.

Mike got creative with the camera and Adeline's night light.

Ten days old.

This is our nanny Olivia. She takes great care of Adeline, but would like her to sleep less and be awake more.

Olivia and Adeline take a walk to CVS...just the first trip of many for little Adeline.

sorry for the delay

Our internet at home has been goofy since getting home from the hospital, hence the long delay in updating. We have been enjoying having Adeline home with us. Crazy that our lives are completely changed because of this little girl. We love her so much.

This was our first "family photo." She looks really happy to have us as parents, huh?

After 48 hours of antibiotics for an elevated white blood cell count, Adeline was able to go home. This is her first outfit since we could not really put her in clothes with all her wires and IV. Here she is free from all attachments and dressed in her pink outfit. Her legs were a little long for the newborn pants though.

So happy to finally be able to hold my baby without worrying about wires and her IV tubing and to be able walk more than five feet away from the monitors.

Ready to go home!

We were greeted with fabulous decorations when we got home.

As you can see Adeline is very flexible and talented.

I thought I might not post again until the baby was born, but I wanted to show our "Nursery Nook" and figured I'd give you a look at my "4 days until due date" belly. I'm still feeling pretty good, but I'm ready to be done working. I'm hoping to go into labor over the weekend so that I don't have to work on Monday. But I'm also hoping NOT to have this baby on Halloween. We shall see. I can't wait to be able to post pictures of our baby on here.

This is our Nursery Nook...the area at the end of our long bedroom where our "office" used to be. Eventually there will be a wall put up between the two rooms, but for now we will share. Mike found the dresser in the garbage. It was painted all white. He stripped it and refinished it and it is perfect.

pregnancy

I know that I've been bad at keeping my blog updated...and I've heard that I've been badmouthed for it. So, for my dear friends and family who don't get to see me, this is for you.

These pictures were taken on September 25th.

I did have intentions to post these then, but I must have gotten distracted.

I was 34 weeks at the time.

These photos were taken today, October 15th.

I am now 37+ weeks. Only 18 days until my due date, November 2nd.

Notice my belly button. I think it's been sticking out since 20 weeks or so.

Esther, do you recognize the shirt? It's really comfortable.

I'm feeling good, but definitely slowing down. I get contractions everyday, especially after a long day at work. I'm planning on working up until I deliver and then I'll have 12 weeks at home with my baby. I can't wait.

I hope this holds you over. I'm pretty sure the next post will be after the baby is born. I might be more motivated to post pictures of the baby rather than me and my big belly.

amanda & josh get married september 26th

Mike's sister Amanda got married to Josh on September 26th.

Everything was really nice. For the ceremony, Amanda wore her mom's wedding dress.

fun with the bukowskis

At the end of August, we drove to Streator, IL for Ruth Bacon's funeral. We decided to make more of a trip out of it, so the Bukowski's and Mike and I drove over to Starved Rock State Park. We then spent the night at a hotel in Naperville. We love traveling with the Bukowski's.

Addie and Ben

We went on a paddle boat ride. It was a little disappointing, but still fun.

We paddled over to see Starved Rock...for a second...and turned right back around.

More Alaska

We had a great time in Alaska with Erik & Brittany. Here are some photos of all the great things that we did. We took a road trip down to Homer where Mike and Erik went halibut fishing. I'll have to get some of those pictures off the other camera, but they had a great time and we were able to bring home over 20 pounds of halibut. We've already had two halibut dinners. Yummy!

Me and Brittany

The scenery was amazing.

We drove from Homer to Seward and were able to go on a six hour wildlife and glacier boat cruise. The ride started out really rough...we thought Erik was going to have to use the vomit bag, but he survived. The waters eventually calmed and we were able to see some amazing things. We stopped to see this glacier. It was 300 feet tall and half a mile wide. It was "calving" so we could hear the glacier moaning and popping and then chunks would fall off the front into the water. It was amazing.

I really wanted to see some whales. Toward the end of our tour, we came across a family of Orca "Killer" whales. It was incredible. It was really hard to get good pictures, so I mostly took video, but here's one photo to show you we actually saw them.

Our spot inside the boat. It was nice to have a table. The boys & Brittany played several games of Backgammon. We would run outside whenever they announced that there was something good to see.

Britt and me again. It was so much fun to experience Alaska with them.

One day we went to a shooting range. Mike has never shot a gun and he really wanted to. It wasn't too thrilling for me, but I gave it a try. Is shooting a recommended activity for a pregnant woman? Mike likes this shot because you can see the shell coming out of the gun.

I think I usually had my eyes closed. Oops!

After shooting, the boys went into this pond to collect disc golf discs that had gone astray into the water. The water was really cold, but they walked around in the muck feeling for discs with their feet. It was always a celebration when a disc was found. The third guy in the picture is Tim, one of E & B's friends.

In the end, they came up with 27 discs.

Then they had to divide up the discs. Each one taking his turn.

Another fun thing was that we were able to spend an evening with Suzanne's parents. They cooked us a delicious dinner and a tour of their amazing house. There were actually two tours...a girls tour which looked at all the rooms of the house and a boys tour that talked about all the construction aspects of the house. Their tour was about four times as long as ours. Thanks so much for a great night.
